Home Remedies for Dry Skin

Here’s how to use these remedies to make your skin soft and glowing again.

1- Curd Face Mask for Dry Skin

Curd has anti-bacterial properties and is full of antioxidants that make the skin soft and radiant. It is an ideal home-based remedy for dry skin. It has lactic acid, which can remove bacteria from your skin that are otherwise harmful. For better results, mix a little honey and a few drops of lime juice with curd and apply it on the skin, leaving it for 10 minutes then rinse it off.

2- Milk Cream

The lactic acid present in milk cream helps exfoliate dry skin. The soothing nature of milk cream also helps preserve the skin’s delicate pH levels. Milk cream is also an excellent moisturizer.
Mix a few drops of lemon juice, one teaspoon of milk and two teaspoons of milk cream. Rub it on your hands and legs. Leave it on for a while before you take a shower. Do this once daily.
Add enough milk cream to three to four tablespoons of gram flour to make a thick paste. Apply the paste on your face, hands, and legs. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Do this once daily.

3- Oatmeal Moisturizing Mask

Oatmeal is one of the most effective home remedies for dry skin on the face. It also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which help you deal with the symptoms that dry skin causes. Warm up the milk in a saucepan. Place the oatmeal in a bowl, and add the milk to it. Wait for a few minutes before adding the honey to the mixture. Apply the face mask. Keep it on for 20 minutes. Rinse with cold water

4- Glycerin

Hydrate your skin with glycerin, as it helps your skin to absorb and retain moisture. You can easily buy it from your neighborhood drug store. An ancient time effective home remedy for dry skin is to mix glycerin, lemon juice and rose water in equal proportions, and apply it onto your face overnight. You can store this mixture in a bottle in your refrigerator. Apply it regularly every day.

5- Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is really good for treating dry skin. It has a good amount of fatty acids that make up for any loss of moisture from the skin. Apply coconut oil on your dry skin after you take a bath or shower. When the skin is warm and supple from your bath, coconut oil is more readily absorbed. Do this daily.

6- Avocado and Honey

Avocado and honey when combined together form an effective natural remedy to combat dry skin conditions. They make a good amalgamation of sterolin and humectants to formulate an effective face mask for dry skin. Simply mix mashed avocado and honey in equal proportions and blend them into a consistent paste. Apply it for 15 minutes, and then rinse it off.

7- Castor Oil

Castor oil is bestowed with natural therapeutic powers of ricinoleic acid and vitamin E that can protect your skin against soap, warm water, and the winter dryness. This acts as a natural astringent to take away all impurities from your skin. It easily seeps into the skin and nourishes it. Dab it onto the extremely dry areas over your face to hydrate, avoiding eyes.
